I think the key was the lemon juice, Ive always had artichokes with mayo or butter, which believe me is just not the same!
So you want to begin by trimming the tops, slicing them in half and placing them in a bowl of cold water with some lemon juice inside. This is to prevent them from browning, but I like to believe it also soaks in the lemon flavor.
Next, you just want to boil them for 15-20 min. You also want to squirt some lemon juice on the artichokes here as well!
While its boiling its time to start the marinade/dipping sauce. And this is the key part, the garlic oil! I was lucky and my dad had just sent me some Roasted Garlic Grapeseed Oil from his new business,Wildtree, and I just mixed it with salt and of course lemon juice (if you dont have the amazing grapeseed oil, I recommend you buy it! lol or use olive oil and either garlic powed or finely chopped garlic).
After you drain the artichokes you want to brush/or drizzle the oil on to the arichokes and lay them face down on the grill (I used my George Foreman Grill!)
Serve with the oil lemon on the side so you can dip it in. Oh man, so good! Good luck!

What a plug for your good old dad. Looks good, I'll try the artichokes with the family if they are willing to try.
