flan is a tart, a type of pie.

Everytime time I ask Daniel what should I cook, he always replys with flan! And each time I reply with an ick, no way! It's funny 'cause in all honesty I dont think I have ever tried it. So yesterday I caved and made him find a recipe for flan.

So here we go. Spanish Flan.

Liquify sugar.

Coat pan with the sugar.

Beat eggs, vanilla, evoaporated and condensed milk.

Pour in pan, and bake.

60 min later!

Ok so not the prettiest thing I've made. It's like when you didnt spray the pan good when baking a cake and the whole bottom stays in the pan....
At least it doesnt affect its taste, just the aesthetics of the food! And I'll admit, I didnt totally hate it, but it's not something I'll ask for over and over again. But it was good, and Daniel loved it! Thats a success in my book!

Spanish Flan

Ingredients
1 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt sugar until liquefied and golden in color. Carefully pour hot syrup into a 9 inch round glass baking dish, turning the dish to evenly coat the bottom and sides. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat eggs. Beat in condensed milk, evaporated milk and vanilla until smooth. Pour egg mixture into baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil.
  4. Bake in preheated oven 60 minutes. Let cool completely.
  5. To serve, carefully invert on serving plate with edges when completely cool.
